Entertainment Lineup Announced
for 30th Annual Dancin’ In The Streets

Out2News.com

STUART, Fla. – Stuart Main Street and the Downtown Business Association of Stuart have announced the 2017 lineup of musical acts for the 30th Annual Dancin’ in the Streets!

The much-loved festival, celebrating its landmarked 30th year, will take place on five stages, including The Lyric Theatre, with over twenty bands from 3 p.m. – midnight on Sat., Aug. 19. Tickets will be available in July at Seacoast Bank locations in Martin, St. Lucie, and select Palm Beach and Indian River locations, Kilwin’s Chocolates & Ice Cream in Downtown Stuart, Earthtones and Terra Fermata.

This year’s lineup includes Sierra Band, Ladies of Soul, Sister Baby, Bachaco, Melinda Elana, Bryce Allyn, Moska Project and Relapse Band performing on two main stages, plus two additional stages of up and coming acts. The Pure Zeppelin Experience will also be performing at The Lyric Theatre.

Every year, the streets of Downtown Stuart shut down and the community comes out for a day of live musical performances, food, drinks, vendors and of course – dancin’ in the streets!

It all began in the Summer of 1987, when a call was made to community leaders from the Stuart/Martin Chamber of Commerce to brainstorm a fundraising event that would keep the newly established Stuart Main Street program alive. Thirty years later, Downtown Stuart is still Dancin’ in the Streets!

Today, the event continues to be Downtown Stuart’s biggest fundraising event, and draws thousands of people to the area each year. Funds from Dancin’ in the Streets support free community events year-round, including Hobgoblins on Main Street, Rock’n Riverwalk and Christmas on Main Street. In the past decade alone, Dancin’ has brought nearly 65,000 people downtown and raised almost a half-million dollars.

“Dancin’ in the Streets brings incredible energy and fun to historic downtown Stuart, while raising funds for local non-profits and free community events in our treasured downtown area” said event chair Bill Moore. “This year we look forward to celebrating thirty years of live music, dancing, talent and community spirit.”

Dancin’ in the Streets is presented by the Downtown Business Association and Stuart Main Street and is sponsored by Coast 101.3, Courthouse Commons, Seacoast Bank, Mulligan’s Beach House Bar & Grill, Southern Eagle Distributing, Snyder Marketing Solutions & Events and Seabreeze Publications.

Shakespeare’s “The Tempest”
at A.C.T. Studio Theatre

Out2News.com

In photo: (from l-r) are Michael Ladewig as Ariel and Keith Lawson as Prospero

“The Tempest” has been long considered one of Shakespeare’s most lyrical plays. Prospero—a magician on an enchanted island—punishes his enemies, brings happiness to his daughter, and comes to terms with human use of supernatural power. “The Tempest” embodies both timeless romance and the historical moment when Europe began to explore and conquer the New World. Its complexity of thought and range of characters—from the spirit Ariel and the monster Caliban to the beautiful Miranda and her prince Ferdinand—plus its poetic beauty and exploration of difficult questions that still haunt us today make this play wonderfully compelling.

Director Dennis O’Donovan plans to transport the audience to the land of the immortal Bard with the use of creative effects on the A.C.T. stage. Together with his cast of 15, O’Donovan will serve up Shakespeare’s tasty series of amusements, as fools become more foolish, villains have their villainy unmasked, and the pure of heart are guided toward pure love.

“The Tempest” will be performed at A.C.T. on July 28, 29, 30 and Aug. 4, 5, 6. Friday and Saturday performances are at 8 p.m.; Sunday performances are at 3 p.m. A.C.T. Studio Theatre is located in the Cedar Pointe Plaza, 2399 SE Ocean Blvd., Stuart. Reserved seating is $25. For tickets and information, please visit actstudiotheatre.com or call 772-932-8880. Group sales and student pricing are available by calling the box office.
